Terms of Service

1. The service

mymusic.academy ("the platform") is operated by [COMPANY NAME] ("we", "us", "our"). The platform provides scheduling, lesson management, student engagement tools, and payment infrastructure for independent music teachers and music schools in the United Kingdom.

By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Accounts

  • You must be 18 or over to create a teacher or school administrator account
  • Student accounts for under-18s must be registered by a parent, guardian, or their teacher
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
  • You must provide accurate information at registration and keep it up to date
  • One account per person — you may not share accounts or create multiple accounts for the same individual

3. Free trial and subscriptions

  • New schools receive a 30-day free trial with full Pro feature access. No credit card is required to start
  • At the end of the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription
  • Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance via Stripe
  • You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no partial-month refunds are issued
  • We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days' notice to account holders

4. Lesson payments

  • Lesson payments between teachers and students are processed via Stripe Connect
  • mymusic.academy charges a platform fee on each lesson payment — the current rate is displayed in your billing settings
  • Teachers are responsible for setting their own lesson prices and are solely responsible for the tax implications of their earnings
  • Refunds for lesson payments are subject to the individual teacher's refund policy. The platform fee is non-refundable except at our discretion
  • You must comply with Stripe's terms of service when accepting payments through the platform

5. Teacher responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your availability, lesson descriptions, and pricing
  • You are responsible for obtaining any safeguarding checks, qualifications, or insurance required to teach in your jurisdiction
  • Where your students include under-18s, you are responsible for obtaining appropriate parental or guardian consent before enrolment and before enabling optional features that process student recordings
  • You must not use the platform to engage in any conduct that is unlawful, harmful, or inappropriate in a teaching context
  • You are responsible for any content (tab, recordings, feedback, challenge material) you upload or create on the platform

6. Student content and recordings

  • Audio and video recordings submitted as challenge responses are stored securely and are visible only to the submitting student and their teacher
  • Recordings are deleted from our servers once reviewed and approved or rejected by the teacher
  • You retain ownership of content you upload. By uploading content you grant us a limited licence to store and display it for the purpose of delivering the service
  • You must not upload content that infringes copyright, is abusive, or is otherwise unlawful

7. Acceptable use

You must not use the platform to:

  • Violate any applicable law or regulation
  • Harass, abuse, or harm any other user
  • Upload malware, spam, or any harmful content
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise misuse the platform
  • Use the platform in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that breaches these terms without notice.

8. Intellectual property

The mymusic.academy platform, brand, and all software are owned by [COMPANY NAME]and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the platform without our written permission.

Tab notation snippets provided in the platform's built-in library consist of generic musical exercises (scales, patterns, arpeggios) that are not subject to copyright. Content you create or upload yourself remains your own.

9. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, mymusic.academy is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the total subscription fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for: loss of profits or revenue; loss of data; indirect or consequential losses; or any losses arising from your relationship with your students or their parents.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Termination

  • You may close your account at any time from your account settings or by contacting us
  • We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, or if your subscription payment fails and is not resolved within 7 days
  • On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  • Any outstanding subscription fees due at the time of termination remain payable

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify account holders of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
